Meet the Dentists
Sherry Padgett, DMD
Dr. Sherry Padgett has one goal as the owner of Flat Creek Family Dentistry- to provide her patients with the best dental experience and results possible. Along with her compassionate team, Dr. Padgett treats each one of her patients with the same care and compassion she would give to her own family. She considers it her mission to change the way people think about dentistry.

After receiving her dental degree from the University of Louisville, School of Dentistry in 1999, Dr. Padgett continued her studies in a General Practice Residency at The Cleveland Clinic. While there, she learned advanced techniques in cosmetic and restorative dentistry, as well as received extensive training in working with medically compromised patients. Dr. Padgett worked in private practice for 4 years in Cleveland, OH after her residency before then moving to Atlanta, Georgia. In addition to working in private practice in Atlanta, she was the medical/dental director and national spokesperson for Brite Smile teeth whitening company for 7 years.

Dr. Padgett has been married to her high school sweetheart, Rob, since 2004. They moved to Peachtree City in 2010 to start Flat Creek Family Dentistry and raise their two daughters, Kelsi and Kenzi. During her free time, Dr. Padgett enjoys traveling, reading, cooking, playing golf, and socializing with friends and family.
In 2014, Dr. Padgett was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. She did not let chemotherapy, a double mastectomy nor radiation take away her positive spirit, and she rang the bell to show completion of her treatment on May 27, 2015. Due to this experience, Dr. Padgett considers it her calling to help others during their own cancer struggles.

Dr. Padgett enjoys taking numerous continuing education courses to stay current with the changing dynamics of dentistry. In addition, she is a member of the Georgia Dental Association, American Dental Association, Hinman Dental Society and Academy of General Dentistry.
Kim Burk, DMD

Dr. Kim Burk is a graduate of the Dental College of Georgia (formerly Medical College of Georgia). Since graduation, she has been working in private practice where she does a variety of procedures including but not limited to crowns, implant crowns, veneers, bridges, fillings, extractions, dentures, and partials.

Dr. Burk is a member of the Georgia Dental Association, the American Dental Association, and the Hinman Dental Society. She loves attending the annual Hinman Dental Meeting to stay up to date on all the latest advancements in dentistry. She has an interest in facial injectables and is certified to administer Botox and Dermal Fillers.
In dental school, she traveled to Gonaives, Haiti, to perform dental work in a remote area that has no access to dental care. While there, she enjoyed learning about the culture of Haiti and interacting with all the wonderful, kind people. She left filled with a sense of gratitude because she was able to use her skills to alleviate dental pain from numerous people.
Kim is very health conscious and believes in the importance of taking care of the entire body to achieve an optimal state of well-being. In her free time, Kim enjoys a good pilates class, spending time with her husband, Marcus, and playing with her three dogs: Georgia (French Bulldog), Bailey (Chocolate Lab), and Ellie Mae (American Staffordshire Terrier).She is also an avid traveler! Jackson Hole, Wyoming, is her favorite U.S. travel spot. Some of her top international travel destinations include France, Thailand, Israel, and Costa Rica.
Alyssa Illig, DMD

Dr. Alyssa Illig has recently escaped the cold of New England, relocating with her family to Georgia in 2023. After graduating from the Boston University School of Dental Medicine, she worked in private practice in both the Boston area and Connecticut for the past 6 years.
Dr. Illig is a dedicated dentist with a deep passion for holistic wellness, emphasizing the critical connection between oral health and overall systemic health. With a keen focus on identifying and addressing the root causes of dental issues, Dr. Illig is committed to helping patients achieve optimal health through comprehensive and integrative care.
Dr. Illig is particularly devoted to helping children with sleep disorders and early cavities, recognizing the importance of early intervention in setting the foundation for strong, healthy jaws and overall well-being. By addressing these issues early, she aims to ensure that children grow up with not only healthy smiles but also improved overall health and quality of life. Additionally, Dr. Illig is a Myo Munchee Certified Practitioner and a member of the American Academy of Oral and Systemic Health (AAOSH) and currently pursuing a fellowship.
Alyssa is also passionate about global oral health and has traveled twice to Guatemala with the organization, Dentistry For All, on volunteer trips. Growing up in a dental family, her father and grandfather were Oral Surgeons and her brother currently practices as a general dentist in Florida. Alyssa knew she wanted to be a dentist from a young age. She is grateful to be able to use her skill to help others achieve long term health and wellness.
During a college study abroad semester in Australia, Alyssa met her now husband, Daniel (from Germany) and they have been married since 2014. They now have two small children, Oliver who is 3 years old and Leni who is 5 years old. They enjoy traveling and camping as a family and love to be outdoors!
